Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh Betting Tips & Winner Prediction

1 Sept 2022
Cricket Betting Prediction

The Asia Cup is providing all the early drama we could hope for in the early stages of this competition, and we’re predicting some more shocks in today’s Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh betting tips.

It is effectively a knockout match - whichever team wins advances to the knockout round, while the other is eliminated. The action gets underway from 7.30 pm IST on Wednesday 1st September at the Dubai International Cricket Ground. Scroll down for a peek at our online cricket betting predictions ahead of the showdown.

Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh Betting Odds

The Lions have lost their last three games, while the Tigers have lost two on the bounce. At the moment, this doesn’t feel like a clash befitting of their big cat nicknames, moreso a game between kittens. Our Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh betting tips are predicting a win for the Lions at 1.61 - you can back the Tigers at odds of 2.32.

Find the latest team news, head to head analysis and more below - all form part of our free cricket betting tips, some of which you can see here:

  • Match Winner: Sri Lanka

  • Toss Winner: Bangladesh

  • Kusal Mendis top Sri Lanka batter

  • Mahedi Hasan top Bangladesh bowler

Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh Betting Prediction: Winner

Both teams are flattering to deceive at the moment, with each struggling to find any semblance of form in 2022. There were hopes the Asia Cup would provide the perfect kick up the backside ahead of the Twenty20 World Cup later this year - but any hopes the sets of supporters harboured for a successful competition were quickly quelled after opening day defeats.

The Lions were put to the sword by Afghanistan, suffering an eight-wicket mauling in what felt like a seminal moment in the new cricketing world order. They were bundled out for just 105 runs, and in response, could only manage to take two Afghani wickets. The result means Sri Lanka have won just two of 12 T20 games in 2022.

Bangladesh also suffered at the hands of Afghanistan - losing by seven wickets. Once again, the Bangladesh batting line-up could not deal with the threat of Afghanistan’s bowlers and could only muster 127/7. The Afghan batsmen also made light work in chasing - winning by seven wickets and nine balls to spare.

Bangladesh have now lost their last seven in a row - this awful form is why we’re backing Sri Lanka to get the job done.

Best Bet: Kusal Mendia top Sri Lanka batter

It’s hard to make a case for many Sri Lankan batsmen at present, but one who isn’t shirking the challenge is Kusal Mendis, who is converting his excellent recent test form into the shorter format during Sri Lanka’s premier Twenty20 format this year.

He’s up the order for the Lions and a good bet to top the scoring rankings for his side. You can back him at odds of 4.2 with Pure Win.

For Bangladesh, we have to look to the bowlers, with next to no form to go off from their batting unit.

Mahedi Hasan has the distinction of being the bowler with the best economy rate in world cricket after at least 25 innings. He could suffocate Sri Lankan players into submission and grab a few wickets here. Bet on him to top the wicket-taking rankings for his side at odds of 5.6.

  • Kusal Mendis top Sri Lanka batsman - 4.2

  • Mahedi Hasan top Bangladesh bowler - 5.6

Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh Head-to-Head

In the 12 games these two have competed in T20Is, Sri Lanka boast an 8-4 advantage. Batting first against Afghanistan, they average a whopping 182.7 - will they be tempted to set a score here?

Venue & Weather Forecast

The Dubai International Stadium has seen some varying scores - with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh both struggling on this deck, posting 105 and 127 respectively. However, India were impressive in registering 192/2 on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka Team News

Team management are likely to resist any major changes to their team, despite the defeat to Afghanistan. Ashen Bandara is knocking on the door for a spot in the side, however. He could replace either Danushka Gunathilaka or Pathum Nissanka,

Bangladesh Team News

No new injury concerns to consider, but there may be more of a temptation to fiddle with the line-up here, given their atrocious form in 2022.

This one will go to the Lions. Bangladesh do not have any sort of form to call on, and Sri Lanka have the better team on paper.
