We’re finally here! After 73 games, 1054 sixes, and 1996 fours, we have our two deserving finalists - both of which finished in the top two of the regular standings. After delving into the live cricket satta rates, analysing the individual and collective form, and breaking down the head to head record, we have put together our best GT vs RR betting tips below.
The Gujarat Titans made the final at the first time of asking - beating the Royals with three balls to spare in the Qualifier 1. The Royals got a second bite of the cherry against the star-studded Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday, and strolled home wit seven-wickets to spare.
The action gets underway from 7.30 pm (IST) on Sunday 29th May at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. To get our full IPL betting preview of the final, scroll down below!
When Jos Buttler is in this sort of form, does it matter what the opposition does? Yet another century for the Englishman in this year’s tournament has swung our thinking - we’re backing the team in pink as part of our GT vs RR betting predictions.
Not only is Buttler doing the business, but a bowling attack comprising Yuzvendra Chahal, Prasidh Krishna, Trent Boult, and Obed McCoy is as potent as they come! Here are three cricket betting tips to get you started!:
Match Winner: RR
Toss Winner: RR
Jos Buttler to score 100+ runs
There are three main reasons we’re selecting Sanju Samson’s charges to lift the trophy as part of our GT vs RR betting tips. We’ll start with the simplest, though - momentum! The Royals are on a high after Friday’s win and momentum is such a key attribute in cricket. If Jos Buttler is surfing the wave, his teammates are no doubt in tow.
Secondly, the unstoppable force that is Jos Buttler! With 824 runs to his name, he currently sits third on the list of all-time run-makers in a season behind David Warner (848 runs in 2016) and Virat Kohli (973 runs in 2016). It would be going some to score 150 to overtake Kohli, but he’s got Warner in his sights!
Thirdly, the Royals’ bowling attack. Aside from Yuzvendra Chahal (0/45), the Royals were all on song with the ball against RCB. Boult (1/28) Krishna (3/22), McCoy (1/31), and Ravi Ashwin (1/31) all chipped in to help limit RCB to 157/8. Chahal, the joint-leading wicket-taker in the IPL, had an off-day - if he turns up, you have five bowlers high in confidence and playing well.
Our instinct is to back the Royals - and 1.91 with Pure Win is a fair price!
Hear us out! No player has scored more than four IPL hundreds in a single season - Buttler and Kohli are currently tied for the record on four apiece.
He is seeing it like a beach ball at the moment, and likes playing against the Titans! Despite being on the losing side on both occasions, he scored 54 and 89.
It feels like the moons are aligning for Buttler - this could be the season he goes down in IPL folklore. If the Royals do manage to win, a huge portion of it will be down to him.
We’re cricketing romantics here at Pure Win - that’s why we’re recommending Buttler to bag a half-century at odds of 3.05. Plus, we reckon our Any Player To Score A Century market at 9.0 is incredible value, given the form he’s in.
Not one, but two big bets for your IPL 22 final!
The GT vs RR head to head record is rather one-sided at the moment, but it’s only been one season! The Titans have won both games and lead 2-0 overall.
They’ve had a phenomenal debut season, but the Royals will pip them at the post to halve the deficit.
It had the makings of a thriller, but a bombastic Buttler century ensured it was a placid ending to the first of two games at the arendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Now we have had a taster, will the final bubble up to a spicier conclusion? Here’s hoping we see edge-of-the-seat stuff!
The weather is set to be fine - with recent storms subsiding over the last few days!
So far, this article has been an ode to the Royals, but we can’t finish our IPL betting predictions without a giant nod of the head towards the Titans.
Many observers thought the Titans would struggle this season. Of the two newcomers, it was widely believed the Lucknow Super Giants had the strongest Mega Auction.
However, the acquisition of David Miller was a prime example of doing diligent scouting and understanding how the franchise wants to play. Miller had been struggling for game time over the past couple of seasons, and didn’t get a look in for the Rajasthan Royals last year. He’s proven many people wrong with some key innings throughout the tournament.
There are no new injury concerns for team management to consider - we expect an unchanged line-up from the victory over the Royals in the first qualifier.
The Royals have been very fortunate with injuries throughout the campaign. Only Hetmyer (a brief paternity leave) has been absent for any period of time. Once again, skipper Samson has a full roster from which to pick.
Obed McCoy was in brilliant form at the death against RCB on Friday. He is not afraid to attempt variation under pressure, an approach that can sometimes be expensive but also yield wickets.
He claimed 3/23 on Friday - if you fancy an interest bet on the West Indies youngster to finish top bowler for the Royals, you can get odds of 3.85 with Pure Win.
There is no doubt that these two franchises deserve to be in the final! The Titans were comfortable table-toppers in the regular season, while the Royals have never deviated too far from the head of the chasing pack.
Despite the 2-0 season record favouring the Titans, the Royals will win the title for the first time since lifting the inaugural trophy back in 2008. Whatever the final result - what an IPL season it’s been!
We hope you have enjoyed it as much as Pure Win has!
